Ward 6 Clean Up Green Up

A special thanks to all those who were involved in this year’s Clean Up. The combined efforts of individuals and businesses resulted in cleaner parks, streams, school yards and neighbourhoods. To date, more than 55,000 participants have joined the Burlington Green’s Clean Up Green Up yearly events.

Burlington Green, in partnership with the City of Burlington, hosted this citywide event on April 22 & 23, 2016. Many community groups came together through social media to combine there efforts. Please visit the Facebook group for more information about up-coming clean-ups. A special thanks to Clean Up Alton Group who organized five Ward 6 locations, including:

1. Rotary Way at the pond
2. Thomas Alton Blvd. & Settlement Crt.
3. Cornerstone Dr. & Ferguson Dr.
4. Thomas Alton Blvd. & Columbus
5. Thomas Alton Blvd. & Tim Dobbie Dr.

After the event the Ward 6 residents enjoyed a free “Thank you” lunch at the Black Swan sponsored by two Real Estate Agents that live in Alton Community:

The benefit of this great community event is that is invites citizens, schools, groups and businesses to join together to take action locally by cleaning up litter and garbage in several areas of the city.

The Burlington Green has totalled the overall results from this year’s community litter Clean Up Event & Eco-Fair Celebration:Over 11,100 participants

• 88 groups registered (including 32 schools)
• Over 145 locations in Burlington cleaned up
• Over 275 people joined us at our Eco-Fair celebration at Central Library and bandshell area.
